There’s a Jam-Packed Rugby And Music Festival Happening In Dublin This Weekend

Megan Cassidy

Rugby, music and food… all of our favourite things.

Festival season is kicking off in earnest this weekend as Guinness PRO14 Dublin 7s takes over Old Belvedere RFC for a jam-packed weekend of sport and music.

Dublin 7s is like no other sporting event on the calendar, with music from DJ Mark McCabe and The Blizzards as well as themed events, delicious food, and of course -rugby, rugby and more rugby.

Beginning with mixed corporate tag rugby on Friday evening, the event evolves with several exhilarating competitions on Saturday, with Mixed TAG, women’s rugby and  men’s rugby alongside the great spectacle of national and international 7s teams.

Spectators and players alike will enjoy a selection of drinks, delectable delights from the  mini food village, rugby-themed activities and a music line-up that guarantees to have you dancing until late. The two-day event culminates on Saturday 26th May with a fancy dress  party before the Guinness PRO14 final kicks off at the Aviva Stadium at 6:00pm.Then, it’s back to Old Belvedere RFC where football fans can enjoy the Champions League on the clubhouse screens followed by live music from The Blizzards and Mark McCabe, a fitting end to a memorable weekend of sport, music and entertainment.

(Psst – Don’t forget to bring along your pooch – dogs go free all weekend!)

Tournament Director Will Matthews said: “With Ireland men’s and women’s 7s teams now competing on the world stage, Dublin 7s sees itself as a part of Ireland’s journey to the Olympics and the world series.

Aisling Delaney, Events & Sponsorship Manager for Guinness PRO14 added: “The Guinness PRO14 Dublin 7s will be part of a great festival of rugby around the Championship Final. Mark McCabe and The Blizzards will add to what we know will be a stellar Fanzone and it will raise the bar for what rugby fans expect whenever a major Final comes to their city.”
