Cider lovers, your attention please! There's a new beverage on the block that you need to be aware of: Outcider.
If you're tired of the same old thing, if you're looking for something a little different, something new, you needn't look any further. You can also taste something different while doing something different, by attending the outlandish Bingo Loco event which it also sponsors... but we'll get to that.
This Irish-made drink is sweet without being too sweet and, considering it's estimated that one in five Irish people are cider drinkers, we're guessing there's a lot of folks out there who'd be tempted to give this a whirl.
Not only does Outcider differ from other ciders in the taste department, it's also visually distinctive.
It comes in multi-coloured packing of blue, pink, yellow and red against a white backdrop, which was designed by contemporary muralist and graffiti artist James Earley.
The vibrant look of the can was inspired by the contrasting environments of Dublin's Docklands with the reasoning being that this area of the city is Dublin's outsider. Speaking of the design, the artist said,
"The colour palette was influenced by my family’s heritage in stained glass windows and my own art and graffiti background. It’s a fusion of all three and I’m really happy with the result; it’s art on a can and that in itself is something quite awesome".
You'll probably be seeing a lot more of that distinctive packing when summer rolls round — especially at events like Bingo Loco, which bills itself as "Ireland's craziest night out", where you can expect conga lines, rave rounds, dance-offs and, of course, bingo.
Probably best to leave your granny at home for this one though.
Bingo Loco and Outcider have announced a nationwide tour that will hit Dublin, Limerick, Letterkenny, Galway, Carrick, Sligo and Maynooth. There are tonnes of random prizes to be won at these events, like a life boat, a washing machine, a Niall Horan cut out, a TV from the 90s, festival tickets and good ol' cash money.
To celebrate its launch, an exclusive Whatsapp group has been set up to give cider fans the chance to attend Outcider events and win amazing prizes. To join in, simply add 0858779300 to your contacts and send your date of birth.
When you're at one these events, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for The Outcider, who will be giving away prizes to anyone in the Whatsapp group who can find him.
Don't worry, he's not exactly difficult to spot...
