Ireland’s Largest Outdoor Ice Skating Rink Is Coming To Dublin – Here’s Everything You Need Know

Zoe

I’ll admit it – ice skating was always one of those activities I was never quite able to get my head around. No matter how many times I’ve fallen over the years, I always go for it, then the immediate fear of falling takes over and I can’t deal.

Saying that, the odd fall won’t stop me for putting on the skates every Christmas and believing I’m about to smash out a scene from ‘Blades of Glory’ – I’ve a feeling this stems from my unreal skills as a child whenever I donned my brother’s Bauer FX4 roller-blades. Ah, fearless youth!

This year, Ireland’s biggest outdoor rink reopens in a brand new location and Lovin Dublin have partnered with iSkate to make it the best year yet.

It’s safe to say ice skating is a solid Christmas activity in Ireland and since it was introduced to the RDS in 2012, iSkate has been a roaring success.

This year iSkate opens its doors at a brand new location, Ring 4 behind the Intercontinental Hotel, from November 24th to January 13th – plenty of time to polish up your skating skills. Without fail, I’ll be there channeling my inner Tonya Harding… minus the crazy. Obvs.

Each skating session is every 75 minutes starting at 10am each day but you should check their website as sessions can fill up pretty quick! If you and your mates are going along, give them a call on (01) 6852439 to double check you can all skate together.

This is a great spot for families too – complete with a kids only rink, balancing aids and double-bladed skates. ISkate @ the RDS will provide the ultimate outdoor ice skating experience this Christmas season.
