This Major Bartending Competition Is Coming To Dublin Next Week

A major bartending competition is taking place in Dublin next week.

The aptly named World Class is all about finding the best bartending talent around, both nationally and internationally. After a year-long process of challenges and mystery bar visits, six finalists have been selected to compete for the title of World Class Irish Bartender of the Year 2017.

The final is taking place on May 30 in Zozimus, where an expert panel (which includes John Torode of MasterChef UK) will decide which of our hopefuls will walk away with the crown. Each competitor will face a number of challenges on the day in front of the judges, who will whittle the finalists down to three.

The three remaining are then entered into a speed round, where they have to make eight cocktails in 10 minutes. When that’s done, all the points from preceding challenges will determine which of our finalists is the national champion.

The winner will then go on to represent Ireland in the global final in Mexico City.

To give you a better insight into this year’s competition, here is Nial Molloy – World Class Ireland Brand Ambassador and veteran bartender.

Stay tuned to Lovin Dublin to see the finalists for World Class Irish Bartender of the Year 2017 whip up some mouthwatering cocktail creations…
