30 Homeless People Slept On The Streets Of Dublin Last Night

Shirleydonlon

A total of thirty people slept rough on the streets of Dublin last night after refusing beds from homeless services despite the extreme cold weather conditions.

Temperatures dropped below freezing point throughout the night, and more than 100 beds were allocated to rough sleepers in a sports centre in South Dublin.

The Peter McVerry Trust issued a statement saying that, despite managing to encourage a large number of people to come in off the streets last night, 16 people in the city centre and 14 in the Dublin region declined the service.

The homeless charity stated that those who refused will be re-engaged today.

Meanwhile, other organisations tackling homelessness have been working around the clock to help as many rough sleepers as possible.
