Curling up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and several hours of our new favourite series is one of our all-time favourite activities but we may need to reconsider our habits.

That’s according to a new study from the University Of Osaka, which found that people who watched more than five hours of television per day were 250% more likely to develop a blood clot in the lung.

In fact, some 56 of the participants passed away due to a pulmonary embolism over the course of the study.

Uh oh…

“After an hour or so, stand up, stretch, walk around; or while you’re watching TV, tense and relax your leg muscles for minutes,” advised Dr Hiroyasu Iso.
