Darragh Berry

Gardaí have confirmed that a man in his early 30s has been arrested after ramming into the gates of the British Embassy in Dublin with his car.

The incident took place at around 9pm on Saturday night.

The British Embassy is situated in Dublin 4 on the southside with an address of 29 Merrion Road.

He was arrested under a road traffic offence and is currently being held at Donnybrook Garda Station.

There was a slight bit of damage done to the gates but despite the incident, nobody was majorly injured in the attack on the embassy.

A source for The Irish Mirror said that the man could be heard shouting, “Brits out” as he was arrested and is allegedly claimed to be a dissident republican.

The incident comes just shy of Prince Charles and Camilla’s visit to Ireland in the coming days.
