A director from Temple Street Children’s Hospital has stated that children as young as 15 months are currently being treated for obesity in the treatment centre.

The ‘W82GO’ centre in Dublin saw 459 children between September 2015 and September 2016 – including a toddler who was just 15 months.

Dr Grace O’ Malley, director of the obesity clinic, has mentioned that the average age of children being treated is 11-years-old.

According to the Irish Daily Mail, around 90,000 children are obese across the country.

Dr O’ Malley, who believes in the benefits of a sugar tax, is of the belief that addressing the mental health of the children suffering is of utmost importance.
