Elf, Home Alone and Love Actually on the Christmas movie line-up at the Lighthouse Cinema

Sarah Finnan

The weather out there is frightful.

A day for the ducks, which has me longing for a duvet day spent indoors watching Christmas movie after Christmas movie.

Unfortunately, I’m sat in work and that’s not even a remote possibility at the minute, so I’ll have to settle with reading the Lighthouse Cinema’s festive line-up and start planning out my calendar.

Unveiling their Christmas schedule, there are some absolute crackers on the cards for the naughty or nice film season.

The big screen will light up for all the classics including Love Actually, The Grinch, Die Hard and The Muppet Christmas Carol. So many movies, so little time.

Kicking things off on November 29th there will be limited screenings of the movie Eyes Wide Shut, accompanied by screenings of a short documentary called Never Just A Dream.

Buddy the Elf will make his grand return from December 4th while December 6th will see the release of a special 4k restoration of Joe Dante’s Gremlins.

The mother of all Christmas movies, Home Alone, will debut on December 7th with a massive Kevin McAllister inspired party. Christmas attire and costumes are not only welcome but encouraged.

There will also be a sing-along screening of the holiday favourite The Nightmare Before Christmas, in honour of its quarter-of-a-century birthday this year.
