Gluten Be Gone! 5 Of The Best Spots In Dublin Serving Gluten-Free Food

RebeccaL

Just a few years ago, giving up gluten was a genuine struggle. It meant waving a tearful farewell to favourites such as bread, pasta and even cake (sob).

Now, thankfully, the universe has risen to the challenge of meeting gluten-intolerants’ needs and has kindly provided us with a host of gluten-free options in some of Dublin’s nicest eateries.

Rejoice!

Though they may be lacking wheat, these options pass the taste test with flying colours and are sure to satisfy every gluten-avoider’s needs.

From coffee shops to high-brow restaurants, here are some of Dublin’s finest gluten-free establishments.

Mr Fox Restaurant

This slick joint serves a massive range of gluten-free options, as well a host of vegan and vegetarian food.

Nestled in a small premises on Dawson Street, Beanhive is the perfect place to head on your lunch break or for ultimate convenience, they also offer a delivery service.

The Boxty House

New meets old at Boxty House, with gluten-free flour used to make traditional Irish boxty. The restaurant has a strict ban on regular flour, so no pesky gluten can make its way into any of the fried foods or soups either.

Try the chicken and smoked bacon boxty or go for the traditional vegetarian option.

They also offer a selection of gluten-free desserts, including their renowned Bailey’s cheesecake.

Located in Dublin’s resident tourist trap, Temple Bar, visitors are guaranteed an authentic Irish experience without the dietary limitations.

Win win.

Bunsen

A national favourite, Dublin’s pride, the gold standard in affordable burgers.

Bunsen introduced its gluten-free burger a few years ago and have been meeting the needs of gluten-intolerants ever since. Why settle for a burger sans-bun when you can just head along to one of Bunsen’s various locations across the city?

Angelina’s

Last but certainly not least comes Angelina’s- where most dishes (including pizza) come sans-gluten.

Pop in for brunch and enjoy gluten-free toast, poached eggs, streaky bacon and avocado. For lunch pick up a goats cheese and pear salad, parmesan chicken with zucchini or an American style cheeseburger served with gluten-free bun.

The selection of food for dinner is outstanding, with a choice of gluten-free pizza, fish, salads and stove cooked meats.

This place tends to fill up fast (and for good reason), so book a few days in advance through their website

So thank the gluten-free gods and head out for a cheat meal ASAP.
