Happenings is partnering with Dublin City Council for an open-air screening of In the Name of the Father in Merrion Square this Friday, August 12.

Think outdoor picnic vibes for the fresh-air flick – bring blankets, snacks and get ready to settle in for the night. The forecast is looking fairly dry but, y’know, this is Ireland, so bring a raincoat.

This event will kick off at 7.30pm with a panel discussion attended by the film’s director and master of storytelling, Jim Sheridan. Topics covered will be the making of the movie, its unmeasurable success, its content in relation to the Troubles and a focus on the innovative and groundbreaking soundtrack.

The film, a courtroom drama starring Daniel Day Lewis and centred around the real-life story of the Guilford Four, is scheduled to start around 9.15pm (when the sun sets), and tickets are priced at €5 per person.
