This is sure to please the huge number of Red Devils residing in Ireland.

Manchester United have confirmed that they will play a friendly against Italian side Sampdoria on Wednesday August 2.

The match will form part of José Mourinho’s side’s pre-season preparations as they aim to mount a serious challenge on the Premier League in 2017/2018.

Likely to feature at the Aviva are the world’s most expensive player Paul Pogba, England’s great hope Marcus Rashford and perhaps even an appearance by young Irish goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said:

“The team has a good variety of games over the summer, playing in great stadiums and allowing a large number of our global family of fans to see live games across the world.

“The pre-season programme has been put together to ensure the manager and his squad have a great platform to prepare for next season with games against top-class opposition.”
