Rent In Dublin Has Fallen For The First Time In Years

In a truly shocking turn of events, a report has found that rent prices have actually decreased in Dublin in comparison to last quarter. 

This, however, wasn’t the same in other counties – as the latest Residential Tenancies Board Rent Index shows that rents nationally rose by 7.37% from Q1 2016 to Q1 2017.

In stark contrast to this, rents in the capital actually fell by 1.5%, driven by a decline in the cost of renting apartments, according to the Journal. 

At present, the average cost of renting in Ireland across all properties is now €987, up from €986.21 at the end of 2016.

Prices are still on the rise, but they are growing at a much slower pace than before. In comparison to rents rising by 2.8% two quarters ago, rents only rose by 0.1% last quarter.

Despite the decline, Dublin rents are still by far the highest in the country – now at 8% above their previous peak in 2007.
