Tesco Has Issued An Urgent Product Recall Due To ‘Chemical Fault’

Tesco has issued an urgent recall for one of its products due to a “chemical fault”.

The retail chain today advised consumers to immediately return Bausch + Lomb’s EasySept HYDRO+® 3% Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaning & Disinfecting Solution as it could pose a risk to health.

Trading Standards UK said that using the contact lens product could result in “experience burning/stinging, irritation, red eye and in rare circumstances, other more serious health consequences”.

In a statement on Tesco.ie, it said that the product “represents low risk to the user and is unlikely to cause serious health consequences” but confirmed that Bausch + Lomb was voluntarily recalling the product “out of an abundance of caution”.

“Over the course of the recommended 35 uses of the lens case, testing showed occasional occurrences where the residual peroxide remaining in the lens case after neutralization was above product specification,” it said.

Anyone who may have purchased the product can return it to their nearest branch for a refund or contact the Bausch + Lomb Customer Service Team on 0845 602 2350 or [email protected].
