Famous Dublin City Centre Restaurant Could Be “Put Out Of Business”

Darragh Berry

The Evening Echo is reporting that one of Dublin City Centre’s most famous restaurants could face being “put out of business” as it is currently locked in a dispute with its landlord.

The restaurant, which employs 60 people, has secured a temporary High Court injunction which will prevent the premises from being taken away from the company for the time being.

TGI Friday’s at the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre has held their residency at the current location for nearly 30 years. A representative for the company said that they had entered a 35-year lease originally in 1989.

A notice of forfeiture was served on the restaurant by the landlord back in November and the six month warning was coming to an end this week.

The landlords were seeking to take possession of the premises later this week on foot of a notice of forfeiture it served on the restaurant operator last November giving his client six months to vacate the unit.

It was said in court that if the injunction had not been secured, the restaurant would “go out of business”, a concern that the company could still face once the matter is revisited later in the week.
