These posters on the N11 tap in to some pretty classic tropes of Irish humour – so it’s no surprise that they were splashed up on Reddit today after being spotted by user MeccIt.
But while they initially made us laugh, a closer look revealed that there’s a very worthy cause behind them.
The posters were in fact placed along the way to Shankill by St Joseph’s Centre – a care centre for people with dementia – which is currently seeking to raise funds and awareness over the festive season.
“Nestled at the foot of the Dublin Mountains, the dedicated staff at Saint Joseph’s are leading the way in dementia care in Ireland,” says the centre’s website. “Providing quality, person centred residential, respite and day care, in a homelike environment for people living with dementia, where their feelings matter most.”
This is a clever yet poignant way of drawing attention to the everyday plights of people suffering from dementia – and hopefully people will take time to read the small print at the bottom, visit the website and donate.
