Dublin is getting a ‘Slow Food Festival’ this weekend

Sarah Finnan

We all know what fast food is…but what about slow food?

Well, it’s pretty much the opposite, in that it encourages people to take the time to prepare and eat whole, locally sourced foods.

The 2019 Slow in the City Festival, taking place this coming weekend, aims to do just that.

Organised as part of Fáilte Ireland’s Taste The Island, the event will showcase the best locally sourced food and drink vendors around Dublin.

Highlighting our city’s blossoming foodie scene and the local producers, restaurants and chefs who are behind the slow food movement there’s a whole load of things on to keep you well-fed and watered.

Saturday’s events include Fab Food Trails and a Cocktail Masterclass at the Roe & Co Distillery while the Sunday festivities kick off on the grounds of NCAD.

Centred around three different areas – The Workshop, The Symposium and The Market, there will be talks on growing, composting and soil degradation as well as a zero-waste workshop and even a beer tasting with local brewery Dot Brew.

Learn how to make butter, followed up by a soda breadmaking class (the perfect combo) and make sure to hit up the Market to sample some of the best grub.

Tickets are on sale now and can be found here.
