A Vintage Pop-Up Is Taking Place In Temple Bar For A Great Cause

James Fenton

‘She was a joyful, kind and crazy fun star who shone bright in all of our lives.’

A description of visual artist Eleanor Lawler, who passed away of Ovarian Cancer in May of this year. In recent weeks, Eleanor’s friends and family have been working hard on putting together a pop-up that will not only honour her memory but will also bring in vital funds for OvaCare, an organisation which aims to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer.

Ellie’s Vintage Market will take place across the weekend of Saturday September 28 and Sunday September 29 at 6 Crow Street in Temple Bar and if you’re looking to pick up some vintage bits while helping out a great cause then you’ll need to pay it a visit.

Some of Ireland’s foremost vintage sellers will be donating items, including Vertigo Vintage, Vintage Vixen and Vintage Finds You. You might even pick up a bargain designer bag or two as well.

During her life, Eleanor’s artwork centred on ‘textiles and performance and made brave statements about the aging body.’ People are invited to join her friends and family for ‘fun, bubbles and vintage clothing’ at 6 Crow Street and beforehand, Murphys Harley Davidson next door will be taking donations for any ‘good quality womens or mens vintage, high street or designer clothing.’

All donations will be sold in an atmosphere of ‘fun and friendship’, with all funds raised going towards Ovacare. If you can’t make it in person, you can help out via this link. You can also keep up to date on Instagram here or on Facebook here.

Ellie’s Vintage Market will be open on Saturday September 28 from 10am until 6pm and on Sunday September 29 from noon until 6pm.

Sounds like the happiest and thriftiest way to spend an afternoon in the city.
