Eight Fitness Events And Classes To Try In Dublin This April

Alan Fisher

Summer is just around the corner, it’s so close I can smell it.

And how’s the beach bod coming along?

If you’re like me and the answer is ‘not so well’, then let’s turn this ship around and do something about it.

I want to step away from the gym and do something slightly different and a little fun.

There are loads of events and classes in Dublin to get started on your journey and I’m going to highlight a few I think are worth checking out this month.

Here they are:

1. Movement+

This event will take place in Cliff Townhouse over looking St Stephens Green on April 14.

There is a yoga class led by Sinead Mooney at 10am and pilates led by Jess Gormley at 11am, both followed by brunch.

There are only a number of tickets left and you can grab them here.

2. Move Energise Glow

This is a free bootcamp for all levels, men and women over 16.

They are looking to encourage people to sign up for their summer programme so why not go down and get a free trial.

Think Hill running, tire flipping, burpee jumping and tummy toning a really fun, enjoyable bootcamp style class for you to challenge your body and mind to get fit.

It’s taking place in Phoenix park Saturday, April 13 and you can register here.

3. Hike To HIIT

This is another event brought to you by ‘Move Energise Glow’ and it’s for beginner level.

You will hike through Cruagh Woods as a warm up and then partake in a HIIT class on top of the Dublin mountains.

This sounds like a wonderful day and great excuse to get outdoors.

It takes place on Saturday, April 20 and you can get tickets here.

4. As I AM 5km Fun Run

There is literally no better way to start fitness than diving into a 5km.

I understand this could be tough if you’ve literally been sitting on your arse for a while but you can take it at your own pace.

Sign up to it and drag a mate along with you for company.

It’s taking place on April 6 in aid of As I Am for Autism and you can get your tickets here.

5. Gaelforce Bray 10km Cliff Run

This is obviously for people a little further along the fitness chain.

It’s a 10km run starting in Greystones, along the cliff of Bray Head and then onto Bray promenade. (Ok, maybe this is just outside of Dublin)

Takes place Saturday, April 6 and you can sign up here.

6. Fit Fix With Kathryn Thomas

This action packed day kicks off with an energetic morning with Pound Fitness, followed by classes such as Boxercise, Zumba and Bands & Bells.

They will also have some fantastic food and nutritional demonstrations and advice.

Tickets are a little pricey but it could be your cup of tea.

7. Walk, Run, Crawl, Skip – StartupFit 5k

As I previously mentioned, 5k’s are a great way to start out.

As the title explains, you can walk, run, crawl or skip this route, just make sure you finish.

This is a free event happening in Stephens Green on Thursday, April 25 and you can find out more here.

8. Charity Boxing Class

Boxercise is an incredible workout and if you’ve never tried it, I recommend you pop down to this on April 6.

Run NYC 4 Temple Street is teaming up with Dublin’s most popular fitness studios The Headon Boxing Academy to bring to you a one of kind unique fitness experience for people of all abilities.

It’s in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital and tickets are limited.
