'Can't Cope Won't Pope' - There's Gonna Be Loads Going On At This Dublin Pub During The Papal Visit

Batten down the hatches.

Next weekend, half the country will be descending onto Dublin like a big tide of jam to welcome Pope Francis as he performs mass at the Phoenix Park.

Public transport will be affected, roads will be closed all over the city, and if the Pontiff isn't your thing, your options for heading out and enjoying your weekend will be seriously diminished.

That's where The Back Page comes in. The Phibsboro pub is putting on a Can't Cope, Won't Pope event where they will celebrate all things Father Ted with customers who can't be arsed with all the fuss.

Among the things taking place on the day will be a tea tasting competition, a Father Ted quiz and Father Ted screenings all day. There will also be prizes for those who arrive in Father Ted-inspired religious garb.

Sounds class, right? If it's a bit out of your way though, and the roads are taken in, you'll see a similar set-up at Mary's Bar on Wicklow Street in the city centre. The week-long celebrations at this spot will kick off on Monday August 20.

Ya never know, maybe the Pope himself will head along to one of the venues for a tipple.
