There’s A Comic Arts Festival Coming To Dublin

By Sarah Finnan

The Dublin Comic Arts Festival (DCAF) is a series of small press comic book events across the capital.

Created to showcase the best of local talent and celebrate the spectrum of Irish sequential art. The small press comic scene has been growing steadily under the radar in Ireland over the years.

Taking place October 12 in The Chocolate Factory on King’s Inn Street, visitors will get the chance to meet local creators and check out some of their work. An old Williams & Woods Chocolate factory, the building houses a creative community of business along with a gallery and a hostel.

There will be coffee and food from Blas Café on sale on the day too, in case you need a little something to keep you going.

Meet our exhibitors! I’m Ray Roche and I get all my writing inspiration through my Ouija Board. With my long-suffering wife, Michele, I write and produce a variety of comics from the bestselling children’s bedtime story “Do You Fart, Mr. Monkey?” and the critically acclaimed black comedy/supernatural crime story “Dem Bones” to the social commentary of the thought provoking “MASQUE.” We started Two Pugs in 2017 to self-publish our stories. Luckily, there’s a bunch of insanely talented Irish artists around to help. I generally bring a six-pack of humour to everything I write (“Monkey See, Monkey Doo-Doo”) but also my life experience (“SOMA: EDEN” & “MASQUE”) and my job (“Dem Bones”). What started as a hobby is now a full-time passion (I hear my wife muttering “Obsession”) that has completely change my life in only good ways. We’re not done yet: There’s a few more stories to tell.
