Éadaoin FitzmauriceÉadaoin Fitzmaurice

After a stressful week in work or college it can be hard to feel inspired for the weekend ahead. You planned on doing something fun but you can’t be arsed spending hours researching. Well, don’t you worry, we’ve done the hard work for you.

Weekend plans are sorted, you’re welcome!

Freedom Art Exhibition

Fancy showing your political colours and adding some actual colour to your walls at the same time? Course ya do. Hop down to the MART gallery in Rathmines this weekend then for a special Repeal art exhibition organised by Peachy Dublin.

Freedom is an exhibition showcasing “artistic reactions to an Ireland post Repealing the 8th.” Peachy says that they want to “keep this a really positive space and environment as it is so close to the referendum and give everyone a night of Art, Music, Poetry and a place to chill out before the Referendum.

Instead of Artists responding to why we should repeal the 8th, we wanted the Artists to help us visualize what the future in Ireland could look or feel like if it is.” There’ll be musicians and spoken word artists performing on the opening night as well as words from a Together for Yes representative.

All pieces of art will be for sale with all the proceeds after cost being donated to Together for Yes.

Culture Date With Dublin 8

Dublin 8 is a fab little spot and this neighbourhood initiative is the perfect way to explore it a little further.

It will celebrate the cultural and historical life of the area through a host of some deadly free activities.

There’ll be tours, workshops, exhibitions and general bants for everyone to enjoy.

Arnotts 175th Birthday

One of our fave department stores in the city is celebrating a huge milestone today, 175 years in business.

To mark the occasion there will be a wide range of unique activities running this evening, such as Victorian inspired Afternoon Tea, performances, workshops and entertainment.

The fun will continue throughout the weekend, so it’s deffo worth popping down. There’s also some deadly bits on sale to mark the occasion such as commemorative mugs and teapots illustrated by Conor Merriman, limited edition pendents by Chupi and luxury scented candles.

Fun times!

Dive Hits Cinemas

Irish movie “DIVE” is not overtly pro-choice or pro-life, it’s just a standalone piece that reflects some of the emotion at the heart of the issue – with exceptional acting from some of Ireland’s finest upcoming talent from Feature Film School in Temple Bar, Dublin.

The Irish-produced film tells the story of a young Irish swimmer, Tara, on her way to the Olympics who faces a difficult decision after discovering she is pregnant. Set against the backdrop of modern-day Ireland, “DIVE” offers an unflinching but balanced look at one of the most fiercely debated issues in public discourse today and one young woman’s journey to make a life-changing decision.

The film will be released in theatres including Omniplex Rathmines, Odeon Stillorgan, starting this Friday.

Titanic The Musical

Near, far…. WHEREVER YOU ARE!

I’ve belted that one out a little too often..

Titanic the musical is in the Bord Gáis this weekend and it’s been getting rave reviews. A bit of drama never hurt anyone.
