A Huge New Summer Gig Has Just Been Announced For Malahide Castle

James Fenton

With all the big gigs that are taking place in Ireland this summer, you’ve probably vowed not to spend another cent on concert tickets. This morning’s news, however, might just twist your arm.

British band Mumford & Sons have confirmed that they will take to the Malahide Castle stage on Friday June 14 of this year. Even if you’re not into the lads’ fairly inoffensive brand of folk rock, you might be convinced to head along by the fact that emerging Irish star Dermot Kennedy will be playing support. The Dubliner has built a growing international reputation of late and won plenty of admirers on American TV a few weeks back.

Further support will be provided by Wild Youth and Aurora. The announcement brings the number of concerts taking place at the venue this year to six, with Snow Patrol, Lana Del Rey, George Ezra, Noel Gallagher and The Cure already booked to perform there throughout the summer.

Tickets for the Mumford & Sons show go on sale on Friday March 1 at 9am.
