Emma’s Easy Orange and Honey Chicken Skewers

emmakenneally

Ingredients
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • Juice of 1/2 an orange
  • 1-2 tbsp honey
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • Metal or wooden skewers

This is the first recipe I ever cooked and despite it being the easiest thing ever to make, I felt like Darina Allen. This always goes down really well and if you have any sesame seeds they’re delicious sprinkled on top before cooking. I usually grill mine but the oven was broken so I fried them this time around and they were equally delicious.

This takes minutes to put together, but if you can marinate the chicken overnight it will taste even better!

Instructions

Step 1

Ingredients.

Dish-8-1

Step 2

Slice your orange…

Dish-8-3

Step 3

… And squeeze half of it into a bowl.

Dish-8-4

Step 4

Squeeze in your honey.

Dish-8-5

Step 5

Add your soy sauce and whisk together. You can taste it at this point and add in more honey, orange or soy sauce depending on how sweet or savoury you like it.

Dish-8-8

Step 6

Dice your chicken into cubes.

Dish-8-10

Step 7

Push the chicken pieces on to a metal skewer.

Dish-8-13

Step 8

Let the chicken marinate in the sauce for at least 30 minutes but if you could marinate them overnight it would be even better.

Dish-8-16

Step 9

I usually grill these but this time I fried them in a little oil on a hot pan for about 10 – 15 minutes. If you wanted to add the sesame seeds then sprinkle them on top of the chicken before frying, they should stick to the sauce.

Dish-8-17

Step 10

When golden brown all over and cooked through take them off the heat.

Dish-8-18

Step 11

Serve up with a green salad or some rice…. Easy!

Dish-8-20

There you have it, another really simple recipe to add to your list for when you couldn’t be bothered going to much fuss but want something healthy and tasty.
