10 Dublin Drag Queens You Need To Know About

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Ladies, start your engines…

The drag scene in Dublin is booming right now and we have some incredible talent hosting shows, appearing at drag brunches, performing and sharing their killer looks on the awl Insta.

There’s nothing quite like a drag performance, it’ll leave you with tears in your eyes and a pain in your tummy from laughing and pure joy in your heart. I went to my very first drag brunch this time last year and I’m still talking about it – probably the best event I’ve ever been to in Dublin.

(and I’ve been to a LOT of events!)

As well as that, a night in The George is never a bad idea. It’s always great craic and one of the best places in the city to let loose and boogie your socks off and rub shoulders with some stunning queens.

These ladies are the ones to watch:

1. Bonnie Ann Clyde

Bonnie Ann Clyde was the one who introduced me to the magical world of drag. I was actually a backup dancer for her first drag performance all those years ago. She’s a super classy lady with infinite sass.

She defines herself as:

“A woman in decline with a big heart and a bigger butt.”

Bonnie appears in The George as well as Drag Aid, an event created to support LGBTQ people in Chechnya, Russia. Drag Aid is a show-stopping, drag-tastical event with lip syncs, quizzes and prizes galore.

2. Miss Taken

Miss Taken is one of the funniest queens I’ve come across, she’s incredibly witty and not afraid to have a laugh at herself. She is often the star of the show at the drag brunch in Pot Bellied Pig.

She describes herself as:

“Dublin’s premier non-death dropping drag queen… If you think I’m a real woman, then I guess you’d be Miss Taken”

Her eye makeup gives me serious Trixie Mattel vibes.

3. Heiress Blackstone

Heiress Blackstone is one fantastic lady.

She can be seen performing in drag shows in Dublin as well as London, where she is the hostess at Cirque Le Soir, a circus-themed nightclub with DJs, burlesque snake charmers, fire eaters and an indoor funfair – pretty cool spot indeed.

She can also be seen sissy-ing that walk at Pot Bellied Pig drag brunch events.

4. Pixie Woo

Pixie Woo is probably one of the best-known drag queens in Dublin.

She always turns out a LEWK and she’s a serious performer. She’s a MUA so her makeup is always on point.

She describes herself as:

“Paris Hilton on a budget.”

An iconic member of the Dublin drag scene.

5. Davina Devine

Davina has been making waves as of late and no, I’m not talking about her wigs.

She’s a humorous queen who can put a smile on anyone’s face and has been hosting and performing at a lot of Dublin events as of late as well as throwing a few moves in The George of a Thirsty Thursday. She can also be seen twerking over an eggs Benedict at the drag brunch in Bow Lane.

She describes herself as:

“Hard wErking Drag-Diva.”
