Nothing leaves me aching for a cocktail like a long-ass week.
So in order to combat that need until next weekend, I have decided that I should start drinking them tonight.
Yes, it’s a Sunday but surely one can’t hurt?
I deserve it.
1. The Escobar, Sophie’s
A refreshing blend of Hendricks Gin, elderflower liqueur, freshly pressed watermelon, a squeeze of lime and a slice of cucumber – all on the rocks.
It slides down your throat like sweet nectar from the heavens. Ahhhh.
2. Prickly Pear Frozen Margarita, Xico
Do I know what prickly pear is?
Nope.
Am I a basic-frozen-margarita-drinking bitch?
Yup.
3. Garden Smash, Angelina’s
As per the lovely waitress’s recommendation I tried this a few weeks ago and haven’t looked back since.
It tastes like lemonade on a hot summer’s day. And, oh, that passionfruit on top is the dream.
4. The Street Rhymer, Zozimus
An enticing blend of lime, sugar, fresh blackberries, egg whites, St Germain and Irish apple gin.
Is this everything you’ve ever dreamed of – in a cocktail?
5. The Real Italian, Farrier & Draper
Tanqueray Gin, strawberry purée, delish basil, a dash of balsamic and pink peppercorns. All topped with soda water and fresh strawberry.
It may sound all over the place but it is a work of art.
It shouldn’t work. But it does.
6. Lavender Elyx, Café en Seine
Lavender in a cocktail? Noootions, you cry.
However, lavender is known for it’s tranquil effects, so if it’s a nightcap you’re after this could be the perf one.
7. Made in the Shade, The Liquor Rooms
The temptation to order ten of these is SO real.
It’s like drinking juice. But with alcohol in it.
A tantalising mix of pear vodka, ginger, fresh raspberries, Aperol and lemon.
If you do drink ten, it’s basically a juice cleanse right? RIGHT?
6. Dragon Negra, 777
This bad boy is €12 and is made with blanco tequila, raspberries, housemade lemongrass syrup, lemon juice and triple sec.
The juice of life one might say.
7. Mid Morning Fizz, Chelsea Drugstore
Described as “fresh, light and intriguing”. And it most certainly is.
With green Chartreuse, a bitta gin, bitters, soda water and topped with whites.
You know where to find us – right here in this new George’s Street spot.
8. Pimms, Sam’s Bar
You got your cucumber, your strawberries, blackberries, lemon and of course Pimms.
Delicious, delicious Pimms.
9. Rosy & Jim, Vintage Cocktail Club
This drink is beaut. Rosemary-infused rhubarb liqueur mixed with Jameson, fresh citrus, VCC Sugar Syrup, egg whites and served with a rosemary skewer.
Well look at you, fancy shmancy.
10. Jalisco Mule, Angelina’s
A spicy yet refreshing jalapeno infused cocktail. Savoury yet sweet. With cucumber, tequila and ginger beer.
Nom, nom, nom. No better spot too, tucked in along the canal.
11. Watermelon Martini, Marker Hotel Rooftop
Watermelon. In a martini. How did we not think of this?
Havana with watermelon liquor and a squidge of lime. Simple, but so good.
Savour it while gazing out over our wonderful city.
Go fourth and gulp.
In the wise words of Rihanna: “Cheers to the freakin’ weekend, I’ll drink to that.” Happy Sunday funday.
