A new medical scanning centre is coming to Tallaght.

According to 98fm, construction work has already began on the €3.5 million facility, located on Belgard Square West.

Upon completion in May, the new centre will offer MRI, Ultrasound and X-Ray scans to 10,000 Dubliners a year.

The centre will also be bringing ten new jobs to Tallaght, according to the company building it, Affidea.

The centre is set to provide the highest-quality scans, catering particularly to patients who suffer from claustrophobia or those who find it difficult to tolerate the noise and commotion of older scanners.

CEO of Affidea, Tom Finn, has said about the new facility:

“Affidea currently caters to Dublin patients with centres in Santry, Dundrum and Dublin City, however the Tallaght centre will ensure local patients have greater accessibility to medical scans, quickly, professionally and to the highest of standards.”

The new centre will be in use for people from areas such as Saggart, Rathcoole, Clondalkin, Lucan, Tallaght, Templeogue, Terenure and Rathfarnham.
