But today, things just moved up to a whole new level – with the €25 full Irish, served alongside a €5.40 Americano.
Served up in Dublin's exclusive Westbury Hotel, it was brought to our attention by Suzanne Sheridan on Twitter – who added that her meal was "just ok (and small)".
Most expensive full Irish in Dublin!? pic.twitter.com/9B0mWA29W6

Sorry, but absolutely no amount of bullshit arguments are going to make this okay. No banging on about "Oh well what do you expect, they have to make a profit" or "If you don't like the prices, then don't pay".
Do we really want to be in a position where people have to check menus before they order a black coffee, just to double-check that it doesn't cost more than a fiver – or to double check that their breakfast doesn't come in north of €20?
No matter what spin you put on it, this is absolutely farcical for hotel food – we've said it before, and we'll say it again, but these prices are absolutely going to tear the Dublin recovery to shreds before it's even had a chance to make the city better.
