The DSPCA Is Seeking Foster Homes For Seven Puppies This Christmas

Kiara Keane

The DSPCA has appealed for help in finding foster homes for seven lab-collie puppies along with their mum, Holly, over Christmas.

They came in with their mum from another rescue but the puppies are still too young to be sent to their forever homes.

Named after Santa’s reindeer, Dasher, Dancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Blitzen and Rudolf, the adorable puppies are only four weeks old at the moment.

The DSPCA said in a post on their Facebook page, ‘Holly is a medium size very friendly dog around one year old, so she and her babies will need an indoor foster home with an enclosed garden for around four weeks.

‘A happy lively home with perhaps young teenagers or adults would be perfect.’

If you’re interested in fostering the little family over Christmas or would like more information, you can call 014994720 or email [email protected].

Dogs Trust recently announced that they would be halting all permanent adoptions over Christmas as they saw a 30% increase in people looking to give up their dogs last January.

Executive Director at Dogs Trust, Suzie Carley, said, “Each year we are saddened and worried by the number of people looking to relinquish their dog, especially in the first few months after Christmas.

“Owning a dog is a long-term commitment so we are urging those thinking of getting a dog to please wait and take due consideration at any time of the year but especially when thinking of getting a dog for Christmas.”
