Massive Fears That This Important Bus Route In Dublin Is Going To Be Negatively Affected By New Service

With the introduction of BusConnects in the city, one TD is very concerned that the new routes might affect an existing service heavily.

The Leinster Leader states that politicians are calling on the NTA to retain a direct bus service from Celbridge to Dublin City.

Councillor Emmet Stagg welcomed the new W8, C4 and 259 services which will serve Celbridge and Leixlip in multiple ways but questioned the fact that there would now be no express service from Celbridge to the city centre.

“However the new C4 and Route 324 services represent a major downgrading of direct services to the City Centre for Celbridge Commuters.

"Currently the 67X has 9 direct services to the City Centre and onto UCD and is an invaluable Express Service.

"Its replacement, a combination of C4 and Route 324, is a major downgrade in public transport for Celbridge Commuters, requiring them to have to travel through both Leixlip and Lucan.

“What is proposed for Celbridge is anything but a fast and reliable Public transport Service. It will add to the discomfort of passengers and will result in additional car usage."

The existing system has been described as "complex" by BusConnects. This new proposed network is "much simpler" but will take lots of time to learn.
