Dublin Fire Brigade Have Issued This Appeal After Attending To A Case Of Hypothermia

Isolation. Poverty. Ill health. Loneliness.

These are just some of the problems that face Ireland's older population.

Hundreds of elderly people live alone, independently, around Ireland. And for some of them contact with the outside world is minimal, whether it's with family, carers or neighbours, they can often go days without speaking to another person.

Dublin Fire Brigade yesterday attended to a case of hypothermia in Drimnagh and have issued and appeal to people to "check in on vulnerable neighbours or family members today" after last night's bitter weather and low temperatures.

So pop over to your elderly neighbours today or give granny a quick call to see if they're doing okay.
