We didn't expect to see Dublin's name on this list at all but when you see who they have been paired with, it does make sense.
In this latest global ranking from OAG, a series of useful metrics are brought together to calculate the Top 20 busiest international routes.
Unsurprisingly, 14 of the Top 20 routes operate to, from or within Asia and routes which connect Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul and Osaka to other parts of Asia feature strongly.
Outside Asia, there are 5 short haul routes which are operated with a high density of scheduled air service. These are: New York LaGuardia - Toronto, Dubai - Kuwait, Amsterdam - London Heathrow and Chicago-Toronto.
And Dublin – London Heathrow.
The only long-haul route which features among the Top 20 busiest international routes is New York JFK - London Heathrow which supports an average of 38 daily frequencies.
But back to Dublin to London Heathrow or DUB–LHR as its referred to on the list. It comes in at number 14th in the top 20 and carried 1,887,170 passengers between March 2017 to February 2018.
The average flight time is around 1 hour and 28 minutes. The best month to fly on this route is in April while the worst is June.
The most punctual airline is Aer Lingus and British Airways is the least punctual.
