Although the windy days of this week have almost finally passed, temperatures are set to plummet this weekend, with lows of -3 forecast for Saturday night.
According to Met Éireann, Saturday will be especially cold:
Turning frosty early on Saturday night, with some icy patches. Lowest temperatures plus 1 to -3 C. The frost will hold overnight, over northern areas, but will clear from Munster, much of Leinster and much of Connacht later, as cloudy weather develops. This increase in cloud will also bring some rain, with a few heavy bursts in places, by dawn.
Sunday, however, should bring temperatures up somewhat:
Rain in all areas during Sunday morning, with remaining frost over Ulster, clearing quickly. But drier, brighter weather, with sunny spells, in Munster later in the morning, will extend up through the country through the course of the afternoon.
Top afternoon temperatures of 6 to 9 C., in northern areas, but 10 to 12 C., elsewhere, best along the south coast. Winds light to moderate and variable in direction. Cold overnight, with a slight frost and some patches of fog. Lows of zero to plus 3 C.
...but not by much.
Basically, wear a jumper this weekend. You've been warned.
