Krispy Kreme Has Announced That It Will Be CLOSING Its Late Night Drive-Thru

In all our years growing up and living in Dublin, nothing has felt quite like an episode of The Simpsons than the opening of Krispy Kreme in Blanchardstown.

Ever since the doughnut joint swung open its doors last week, people have flocked to West Dublin to get their fix. The madness has not been limited to the daytime either with customers also taking advantage of the 24-hour drive-thru system.

With honking horns (for some reason) keeping local residents up at all hours of the night, it really feels like the minds of Dubliners have been taken over by the people of Springfield who never miss a chance to hilariously jump on the latest fad in their hundreds.

Well, it now seems that the late night commotion will be a thing of the past as Krispy Kreme has this morning announced that it will be CLOSING its drive-thru for good. After vowing yesterday to reduce the number of cars and encourage drivers to respect the neighbours, the company has now confirmed that the drive-thru facility will now only operate between the hours of 6.00am and 11.30pm.

Regarding the closure, Krispy Kreme CEO Richard Cheshire issued a statement which says "We’ve listened to our neighbours and we’re making changes. We anticipated a warm welcome for Krispy Kreme in Ireland and have long wanted to open a store here, but the response has been way ahead of our most optimistic expectations."

"For the customers coming into our store in Blanchardstown, the smiles and joy have been great to see. For the most part too, our drive-thru has been a success. But we know that the late-night noise has been an upset for our neighbours."

So there you have it. Everything wrapped up in a neat little package almost as soon as it began, much like a 25-minute episode of everyone's favourite animated sitcom.
