PICS: This ‘Single Bed In Kitchen’ In Stoneybatter Going For A Crazy High Price Was Up For Sale

We thought we wouldn’t find anything worse this week than this “prison cell” that was up for grabs for €360 in Inchicore.

Sadly, we were wrong.

This single bed in a kitchen in Stoneybatter is not an unusual sight anymore, but the fact that it is going for an absolute joke of a price is what really got us going. 

For €800 when I lived in Galway just less than 12 months ago, you could rent out a three-bed house, each room with doubles. 

But for the same price in the capital, this is what you get.

If this doesn’t say that we have a real renting crisis on our hands, it’s hard to know what does. 

One of the lads – who is thinking of moving to Dublin in the future – fired this in the group chat last night and I screenshotted the photos immediately. 

The description of the bed reads:

“Recently refurbished small single bed studio apartment available to rent in the popular area of Aughrim Street This self-contained studio comprises of a single bed. Tiled flooring. And a built in kitchen with all mod cons & features. Aughrim Street is a most desirable location within the ever popular Stoneybatter village.”

However, what shocked me even more was when I went to open the link this morning, I found that the bed had been taken off both Daft.ie and Property.ie. 

On Daft, it said that:

“Flat 3, 65 Aughrim Street, Dublin 7, North Dublin City. This Property Has been either let or withdrawn from Daft.ie, here are some similar properties in the area.”

This could mean that the ad was withdrawn but what’s worrying is that it could also mean that this bed is now someone’s home.
