These Are The Best Walking Tours And Trails On Offer In Dublin Right Now

Alana Laverty

As a Dublin native, or just as a blow-in, it may not occur to you to partake in a Dublin walking tour/trail.

But the abundance of information and culture you will absorb (along with some drinks and food) en route will make every penny worth it.

Here are our current favourites for you to choose from.

No plans this weekend? Well, now you do.

1. The Dublin Tasting Trail

A gentle two and a half hour stroll around Dublin’s best foodie spots.

On this particular urban food trail you will visit eight different places, tasting international and contemporary cuisines, all using Irish produce. You’ll meet the purveyors and makers and learn about the culture and history of our wonderful city.

Prices from €55, available from here

2. The Dublin Literary Pub Crawl

This is one of those must-do things in Dublin.

I happened to do it with my parents, and we still consider it one of our best, and most worthwhile, bonding experiences to date.

Expect to hear the work of Joyce, Behan, Beckett, Yetas and James Larkin. All with a drink in your hand and a smile on your face.

This tour was listed as one of Lonely Planet’s top ten literary tours in the world — so you know it’s gonna be good.

3. Vintage Tea Tour

A tea-rrific experience that everyone should try at least once.

Here’s an example of what treats to expect: vanilla pana cotta with berry coulis, home made maxi twist marshmallow, a blueberry almond and lemon drizzle cake, Guinness chocolate brownie and a red velvet cake pop dipped in white chocolate all laid on a three-tier tray and all looking very, very inviting.

4. Fleeing The Famine

Passengers are invited to journey around Ireland during famine years as actors weave together a moving and enlightening journey through Ireland’s darkest hour on board a custom designed bus.

Using journals, letters, news reports, speeches, poems survivors’ stories, Hidden Dublin paint a vivid picture of that historic time.
