A new travel guide has calculated that holidaymakers spend an average of €120 a day when visiting Dublin.

The figures were released by travel publisher Lonely Planet in its latest budget guide, The Best Things In Life Are Free, which includes four pages on Ireland’s capital.

Compared to other capital cities, the guide states that Dublin is more expensive than the likes of Tokyo, Madrid and Berlin, while remaining cheaper than cities like Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Beirut.

The daily cost took several things in consideration: one night in average priced accommodation, a day’s travel, three reasonable meals, entry to a cultural attraction, and an alcoholic beverage.
