UPDATE: Vermilion In Terenure Has Scrapped Its €1 ‘Doggy Bag’ Charge Following Negative Feedback

Credit where it’s due: Vermilion has reversed its €1 ‘doggy bag’ charge following negative feedback from customers.

We reported on the add-on cost earlier today, after a reader brought it to our attention, but a representative from the restaurant got in touch to confirm it was no more.

Louise Whelan explained to Lovin Dublin why the charge had initially been introduced:

We mainly introduced the charge because our portions are quite large so we were spending a lot of time making up doggy bags, which we don’t mind doing. However, this was affecting normal service and slowing it up a lot so we just introduced it to try and reduce the amount of doggy bags.

She added that they have now “stopped the charge and hired more staff”.

As we said earlier on, the place is a top-notch venue with some of the best Indian food in South Dublin – and while the charge may have been an odd move, particularly from a restaurant with a takeaway service, it’s great to see restaurants listen to what their customers are saying and responding accordingly.

Gwan Vermilion!
