You Can Give Christmas Presents And Stockings To The Homeless With These Wonderful Appeals

seank

While Christmas is a time of joy for so many, it’s incredibly difficult for those living on the streets – but here are a couple of ways you can do something kind for someone in need this December 25.

Charitable organisation Walking In THEIR Shoes is running two separate appeals for the homeless of Dublin and around the country this Christmas Day, one giving out presents and another giving out Christmas stockings filled with treats.

Here’s how you can get involved in the stocking appeal: buy a stocking and fill it with goodies like sweets, nuts, mince pies, a slice of Christmas cake, chocolate (which always proves popular) and even cigarettes.

Here’s how the gift appeal works: contact Walking In THEIR Shoes to be given a name of someone (or multiple names if you’re getting a group involved) who you can buy a gift for. You’ll be given information about that person’s shoe and clothes size to help buy their present, which you’ll be asked to place inside a gift bag along with a card containing a personal message.

When your present or stocking is ready, you can leave it at your nearest drop off point, where they will be distributed to various homeless hostels.

Walking in THEIR Shoes said of these appeals,

Not only are these going to be a lovely surprise for the guys but also something everyone can get involved in, children too. If you can help out in any way at all, please contact us and we can pass on the number of any of our drop of points. Or maybe if there is not one in your area, you might consider being a drop off point.
