seank

Struggling to find stuff to keep the little ones occupied on rainy days?

Worry no longer, because we’ve got some solid ideas right here that should keep them happy for hours.

1. The Ark

The Ark offers plenty of original cultural programmes for children to enjoy in Temple Bar. They introduce kids aged 2-12 to arts and sciences through performances, exhibitions and workshops with leading Irish and international artists. ‘Design It’ is currently taking place at the venue, which is an exhibition and series of workshops exploring design in a child’s world. 2. Dublinia

Maybe you want to give the kids a fun lesson in history, in which case Dublinia is just the ticket. The museum has four exhibitions, giving visitors an insight into Viking and Medieval Dublin, lets you see how archaeology works and gives you the chance to climb the medieval St Michael’s Tower. With its array of impressive weapons and audiovisual exhibits, the kids won’t be bored here.

3. Rainforest Adventure Golf

Think mini golf, but in a rainforest. Located in Dundrum, this novelty mini golf is a big winner with competitive streaks coming out in both little and big kids.

4. Imaginosity

Billed as Dublin Children’s Museum, this a child-centred space where kids and their parents can engage in creative play. The exhibits are educationally designed to inspire learning through play, and it’s a massive hit with kids up to about 10 years old.

5. Cinema

Here’s a low energy option, which is always great. Take the kids to the cinema, sit back and let them get absorbed by a movie for a couple of hours. At the moment, the animated film Hotel Transylvania 2 is in cinemas, which should have plenty of subtle gags for the adults in the audience to enjoy as well.

6. Netflix

Of course, the perfect way to keep them occupied on a rainy day would involve not even leaving the house; luckily, Netflix allows you to do just that. Just throw on a classic kids’ movie like Toy Story, Aladdin, Up, Mulan, or Monster Inc. Our personal choice would be Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit… Find Netflix’s full kids’ movie selection here.
