5 Netflix Comedies To Watch For The Perfect Duvet Day

You've got a long weekend on your hands and you want to make the most of it. And by make the most of it, I mean eat embarrassing amounts of chocolate and be as lazy as physically possible.

But hey, we ain't judgin'. Now we can't bring you food (although we can suggest some great takeaways and give you some bold recipes), but let us comfort you with some excellent viewing suggestions for the day.

We know you don't want anything too serious, so we've assembled a list of light-hearted, funny and nostalgic flicks to raise your spirits while your body remains perfectly horizontal.

1. 22 Jump Street

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill return for the sequel to 21 Jump Street, this time the partners are pretending to be college students in order to find a dangerous new drug. Expect more explosions, more Ice T, and more bromance.

2. About Time

Here's something of the romantic comedy variety. See Domhnall Gleeson do his best English accent (and Hugh Grant impression) as he uses an ability to travel back in time in order to get the girl of his dreams. It's gently funny stuff that warms the heart, with Bill Nighy Rachel McAdams and Margot Robbie also starring.

3. They Came Together

But if the thought of a romantic comedy puts you right off, this is its antithesis. They Came Together is a spoof of the whole genre starring Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, taking the piss out of flicks like You've Got Mail, How Harry Met Sally, Along Came Polly, and pretty much every romantic comedy ever. But unlike most spoofs these days (e.g. Epic Movie), this is actually good.

4. Happy Gilmore

Remind yourself that Adam Sandler once made funny movies by watching Happy Gilmore. This is the one where he channelled his inner rage to become a brilliant golfer. Re-watch to see if it's actually as funny as you thought it was when you were a kid.

5. Lost In Translation

Not so much a laugh out loud kind of comedy, but Lost In Translation definitely has its moments. A faded movie star (Bill Murray) and a neglected young woman (Scarlet Johansson) form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo. We're still annoyed that we never found out what he whispers in her ear at the very end.
