The seaside town is as picturesque as it is tranquil. You wouldn't believe how close it is to the city, considering the unbelievable dreaminess of it all.
And for those of you who didn't know, it's also heaven for foodies. There are absolutely loads of gems, hidden and not so much, to sample when rambling its streets.
Best thing about all this is? We've done all the work for you. Get yourself out there someone and get sampling, quick, before word gets out!
1. Sale E Pepe
Nestled in on the main street of Malahide, Sale E Pepe is perhaps Malahide's best loved and best value restaurant. The North Dublin haunt proves very popular with the locals, and boasts some of the best steak and seafood dishes around.
The specials board changes daily, providing incredible delicacies each and every time.
2. Avoca at Malahide Castle
What better way to get stuck into this beautiful part of the world than by visiting the local castle? After you've walked the length and breadth of the incredible grounds, treat yourself to some of Avoca's finest from their impressive menu.
There's also the added bonus of a playground to keep the kids occupied, and peacocks to keep you amused.
3. Gourmet Food Parlour
This is where you need to get yourself for brunch, if you've any sense at all. Yes, Gourmet Food Parlour has a Malahide branch, and it's as dreamy as you could possibly imagine. Their huevos rancheros are things of beauty, and are known to cure a multitude of ills. But pretty much everything in here is absolutely stellar.
4. The Greedy Goose
The Greedy Goose has one of the best viewing spots in the whole of the marina, and it's the perfect place to perch and have an elegant sit down meal. Due to its proximity to the sea, their fresh fish is absolutely to die for, with an impressive array of vegetarian options also.
5. Kajjal
One of Malahide's most adored restaurants, Kajjal is one of the finest and most impressive Pakistani and Eastern restaurants you'll find in Ireland at the minute. The staff are wholly knowledgeable and totally willing to help when it comes to pairing your individual tastes with those of the menus.
Be wary of their spicy dishes, however. Some of the options will blow your socks off.
6. Gibney's
Nothing says Malahide more than a trip to Gibney's. This is as authentic as it gets. Here you'll find yourself some live music on a weekend night and matches on during the day.
However, one must be warned that all concept of time can be lost here, and hours can easily get away from you as you get stuck into rounds with the locals.
7. Déjà Vu
Déjà Vu is your chance to sample a slice of Parisian heaven, right in the centre of beautiful Malahide. Open every day for brunch, and each evening for dinner, their menu has something for everyone, with options ranging from healthy to decadent to meaty to vegetarian.
The chef in here is incredible, and your needs are fully and wholly met by the lovely staff. A must when in the area, you won't regret it.

A Skort by Any Other Name On a humid afternoon this weekend at St Peregrine’s GAA Club Blanchardstown, west of Dublin, thirty camogie players took the field not in the sport’s traditional skorts, but in shorts. They weren’t in war paint or waving placards but they may as as well have been. The Kilkenny and […]

Remember 2007? Every Irish Leaving Cert oral exam was essentially a panic attack punctuated by shaky mentions of “cúlú eacnamaíochta.” Now, the discourse is back but 2025-ified. Instead of being pumped into us via well meaning language teachers, this time it is fuelled by TikTok sleuths dissecting every minor inconvenience as proof we’re already in […]
A survival guide for the tragically trendy now being bullied by signage. So. It’s sunny. You’ve got your tiny sunglasses on, your €17 graphic tee is cropped just enough to show the tattoo you got in a moment of heartbreak, and your Sambas have barely touched grass. You’ve done your civic duty and supported a […]
Waking up at 5AM is slightly more tolerable when there’s the Best Sunrise Views in Dublin and the opportunity to flex on main. There’s a specific kind of person who voluntarily wakes up at sunrise. They’re either spiritually awakened, deeply anxious, on a wellness bender, or just trying to feel something before the workday starts. […]
