7 Bars To Avoid If You’re Doing The 12 Pubs Of Christmas This Year

Depending on who you ask, the 12 Pubs of Christmas is the best craic ever or a scourge on society. 

Thankfully if wearing tacky Christmas jumpers and drinking until you vomit isn't your thing, there are some safe havens out there. 

Here are 7 bars that are discouraging or turning away 12 Pubs groups this year.

1. The Swan, Aungier Street/York Street

The Swan was one of the first pubs to start turning away 12 Pubs crowds and they're still strict about their policy. 

They're all about preserving their relaxed atmosphere and keeping the locals happy.

"We don't allow them at all," they said. 

2. The Long Hall, South Great George's Street

After feedback from some of their customers, The Long Hall hasn't allowed 12 Pubs crowds for the past few years. 

They posted this explanation on their Facebook page last week.

3. Walsh's, Stoneybatter

Once again, Walsh's have a notice up on their door explaining that they don't take big groups. 

"We can't take them - the pub is too small," they said.

4. 57 the Headline, Clanbrassil Street 

It's a firm no from this gastropub. 

5. The Old Stand, Exchequer Street

"We're a very small pub and a lot of our customers eat while they're here so we'd prefer to save our tables for people who won't just be in and out."

6. The Thomas House, Thomas Street

This alternative music bar will accept 12 Pubs groups - up to a point. 

"We'll allow them early in the evening but not past the 5th or 6th pub," they said.

7. The Palace Bar, Fleet Street

The Palace Bar isn't a fan of "messy" 12 Pubs groups, saying "they're disruptive and upset the locals". 

Although interestingly enough, they thought they'd seen a significant drop in people undertaking the drinking challenge this year. 

Could we soon see the end of the 12 Pubs of Christmas?
