January Sales are not really January sales anymore – and as we saw this morning, a vast section of the public seem to be perfectly okay with this.

And while queueing at dawn the day after Christmas may not be for everyone, there’s still plenty of time to lash into some amazing bargains out there once you’ve finished your turkey sambo.

Here’s your guide to a few of the biggest savings you can pick up on St. Stephen’s Day.

Brown Thomas

St. Stephen’s Day is the day that finally brings that other world that is Brown Thomas/BT2’s designer couture down to the rest of our level. It’s Louis Vuitton handbags at dawn! Or, well, 9am for most stores (8am in Dundrum) with up to 60% off.

Blanchardstown

Blanchardstown Shopping Centre might seem forever away, but it’s actually only about 20/30 minutes on the bus, and even better, it’s never as crowded as Grafton St or Dundrum. What it does have though is all the staple sales spots – high street fashion, electronics, homeware and furniture, so you’ll find whatever you’re looking for.

All stores in the Centre open at 9am to 6pm, with details of discounts to be announced on their Facebook page.

Arnott’s

With Clery’s now gone, Arnotts is set to have a busy January. Though it leans a little towards the pricey side, it actually has a pretty good range of designer clothes, homeware etc. Great time to pick up a bargain in Gap or River Island.

Usual opening hours apply: 9am on St. Stephen’s Day.

Curry’s PC World

The internet has been buzzing over the last few days with the announcement of the Curry’s PC World Sale – TVs look like the biggest price drops, but you could pick yourself up a decent laptop with a few hundred knocked off the pricetag. Stores open 8am.

Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer is not just about the cookies. They have a pretty decent range of clothes, a great accessories section, and legs down the best tights around.

The M&S Sale actually started online on Christmas Day, but in store on Grafton St at 10am on Stephen’s Day.

House of Fraser

Up to 50% off clothing in store in this department store – it’s the one that occupies one end of Dundrum Shopping Centre, and again this sale will be all about the brand bargains, your Calvin Klein or Hugo Boss.

Half-price designer is never to be sneezed at. Mostly because it would cost too much. Opens 8am, along with the rest of the Dundrum Centre.

Rugs to Rhinos

Rugs to Rhinos (also known as Irish Liquidators) is an antiques and collectibles dealer that also does house clearances as well as trades.

The result is an Aladdin’s cave where you’re just as likely to find ancient Japanese samurai masks, toys from the 50s, wartime medals or contemporary furniture. They’ll be running a blanket 30% off marked price sale starting on St Stephen’s Day.
