Craft Beer Weekly – More Pumpkins and a Great Launch Event

doerthewoltermann

This week is a quick post to give you a few ideas for the weekend. The main craft beer event this week was the launch of the Alltech Craft Brews and Food Fair on Wednesday. Alltech, who make the “Kentucky” beers, invited us to come out to celebrate the launch and sample their new Pumpkin Barrel Ale. It was a brilliant night and the turnout was massive. The place was jammers and it was great to catch up with so many bloggers, brewers, journalists, distributors, beer sommeliers, and so on.

The pumpkin ale was delicious and wonderfully spicy. Many people were surprised when I warned them of the ale’s 10% ABV as the beer is very easy to drink. I’m already really excited about the festival which will be taking place from February 27th to March 1st 2015. We had a great time there last year and I have no doubt that it will be even bigger and better this year.

In other news, the pumpkin beers I mentioned in last week’s post are appearing in pubs and off licenses more and more now. Brew Dock have the Post Road Pumpkin Ale on tap, and The Dark Horse have Trouble Brewing Pumpkin Brew. All O’Briens Off Licenses are now stocking the Trouble Brewing and the Kentucky Pumpkin Brews as well. O’Briens is everywhere so make sure you get into one and give these 2 beers a try! There’s plenty of time for it over the long weekend.

Last but not least, there’s still time to join the Dublin Ladies Craft Beer Society for our Halloween Brew Day tomorrow! We’ll be brewing our own pumpkin beer, so if you’d like to learn about homebrewing or just want to join the Halloween fun, you can find all the info here.

Enjoy the weekend and the pumpkins, in whatever shape or form!
