FIRST LOOK: Metropolis Festival In The RDS Is Looking Pretty Slick

Metropolis, the winter music festival taking place in the RDS this weekend, is set to be a pretty big affair.

Following last year's rave reviews, they have set the bar pretty high for themselves - but as far as we're concerned, this year is going to be better than ever.

We headed down to the site today to have a gander around and see what all the fuss was about.

Yes, that is the world's largest disco ball. And it's THREE STOREYS HIGH.

As far as stages go, the main hall is in the Serpentine Room which is being used Friday and Saturday for some really deadly acts like Sim Simma, Abstract and DJ Deece.

Then there's a really cool Andy Warhol Silver Clouds exhibition, originally installed in New York’s Leo Castelli Gallery in 1966. Metropolis received special permission to host this installation, which will feature balloons filled with a mixture of helium, nitrogen and ambient air, so they hover at eye level.

Art collective Labyrinth have produced a projected installation and petition piece in partnership with REPEAL Project. They're trying to change the narrative with regards to social and political protest by getting people to sign a petition on their website which will be projected at festival.

There will also be limited edition t-shirts on sale solely at the venue.

Also, in the book-laden Concert Hall, Metropolis will be teaming up with Red Bull to bring you a collection of talks, performances and samples of the spoken word from people such as Ralph Rolle from CHIC, Paul Kalkbrenner and Jessy Lanza.

The stage has been changed this year to accommodate a more intimate setting and the chance for you to catch a proper glimpse at some of your favourite acts.

Everything kicks off tonight for the Metropolis festival, with Kormac, DJ Shadow and Mount Kimbie providing the tunes.

It's going to be so greaattttttt.
