Celebrate all things ginger with the annual Irish Redhead Convention in Crosshaven, Cork from August 21 to 23.
This is the sixth ginger gathering to take place in the Cork, the event is open to all Irish and international redhead visitors and admirers.
It’s not just a novelty, however, there’s actually plenty to see and do at the festival. There’s the Foxygen stage, with the likes of Mary Coughlan, Ginger Nutz, and Amadáns & Bodhráns performing.
There’s also the reddest beard competition, redhead cinema screening, the Red Pub Crawl, a carrot tossing championship, an art exhibition, a seminar on the history of the redhead, and even ginger speed dating (their “conservation project” apparently).
The convention is also child friendly, with plenty of fun and games in the Kids Zone to keep them amused. There’s also a Red Photo Booth where families of foxy people can get a professional portrait taken.
The convention, which began as a joke between redheaded siblings Joleen and Denis Cronin, is also a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society with 20% of ticket fees and other fundraising events being donated to the national charity for cancer care, research and support in Ireland.
This convention is just another in a line of events that are now showing the love to the redheads of the world, like the Gingers: The Gathering pride festival that’s taking place in the UK.
If you want to celebrate our nation’s redheads while doing your bit for charity, you can get your hands on tickets for the festival here.
Will you answer Redhead’s Call?
