London Fire Brigade has apologised for tweeting that ‘thankfully no hipsters were injured’, after it tackled a blaze in a pop-up restaurant in Shoreditch.
“Sorry if we caused any offence by using the term hipsters. Hope #Shoreditch businesses are back on their feet soon,” the organisation tweeted, after a number of users branded the initial joke unprofessional and insensitive to those who had seen their livelihoods go up in flames.
The initial tweet, which has remained live on the Twitter feed, reads:
