Oh hey there Metropolis… Look at you over there, making our week bearable.
Three deadly nights and two whopper days are ahead of ticket holders of this event, which met rave reviews last year and is set to be even better this time around.
Jam-packed with everything and anything from the spoken word to art installations, this year’s event is set to soar – and here’s all you need to know before you head to the RDS.
1. What time does it open and close?
Everything kicks off at 7pm Thursday evening. It’s all being held in the beautiful surrounds of the RDS complex across Thursday 3, Friday 4 and Saturday November 5 and opening and closing times are as follows.
- Thursday November 3: 7pm – 11pm
- Friday November 4: 3pm – 11:30pm
- Saturday November 5: 3pm – 11:30pm

2. Who’s playing, and when?
Read ’em and plan.

3. How do we get there?
There is very, very limited parking available, but the people behind the festival are encouraging everyone to take public transport and/or taxis there.
Bus: The RDS is serviced by Dublin Bus routes 4, 7 and 18, which all run every 15 – 30 minutes, and have exact details on their website.
DART: Dublin DART service also operates from the City Centre to Ballsbridge. The closest DART station to the festival is Sandymount. (approx. 5 minute walk away)

4. What’s the weather going to be like?
The festival is mostly indoors, but as some of it is outdoors (like the three-storey disco ball) we thought this was relevant.
We recommend layers, a coat with a hood, and also rave wear for dancing. It’s going to get pretty warm inside, too.

5. Must-see acts
Thursday: Kormac, Mount Kimbie, DJ Shadow (yes, they’re all that good)
Friday: Badbadnotgood, Jack Garratt, Groove Armada
Saturday: DJ Deece, Booka Shade, Grace Jones

6. What’s on offer other than music?
Art installations, REPEAL project pop-ups, talks, spoken word and great food and drink. Oh, and did we mention the world’s biggest disco ball?
Read all about it in our exclusive first look right here.

7. Can I bring booze in?
Afraid not, but Metropolis have fully stocked bars with everything your heart could desire. Photo ID may be requested for sale of alcohol though, so bring your IDs.
And, new to this year’s festival, you can pay with Visa contactless at every bar – meaning queues will be quicker, and no one will run out of cash – deadly.

8. And finally, what exactly should I bring?
So, your checklist for the weekend should consist of:
- Suitable clothing for both indoors and outdoors
- ID
- Adequate amounts of cash or your debit card (There is an ATM on site also)
- Ticket
- Comfy shoes
And that’s it. Everything else including merchandise, tasty grub, beautiful drinks and banging tunes will be provided by the lovely people behind Metropolis.
Have a slick weekend, you guys.
