PIC: Did You Spot This Eerie Green Mist Over Dublin Last Night?

katedemolder

We received a message just now from Gavin Honeymoon (great name, we know) on Twitter, and we’re wondering if anyone else managed to spot the green sky last night either.

Check this out for size.

Weird, right?

And it seems it’s not the first time it’s happened…

But, green and Ireland go hand in hand, so we were too surprised.

UNTIL, we Googled it.

And the glorious search machine told us this:

Those are the kind of storms that may produce hail and tornadoes.

Green does indicate that the cloud is extremely tall, and since thunderclouds are the tallest clouds, green is a warning sign that large hail or a tornado may be present.

But, we didn’t hear of any storms last night. Did you guys?

Maybe the sky just wanted to try out a new colour. It happens.

If anyone else has any more pictures of this fascinating astronomical phenomenon – please send them our way!
